Borneo Ironwood or 'Kayu Belian' is a very highly sought-after durable hardwood that is native to the island of Borneo. It takes centuries for a 'beilan' tree to mature. The Murut artisans of Kg.Sikalabaan, Pensiangan would collect these belian driftwood from the rivers to be hand-sculptured into pestles, mortars and also chopping boards.
